How to Write Compelling Content for Your Website

You have three seconds to grab a visitor's attention. If your content is boring, confusing, or too long, they will leave. Writing for the web is different from writing a book or a brochure. Here is how to do it right.

1. Know Your Audience

Before you type a word, ask: Who am I talking to? What are their pain points? Speak their language. Avoid jargon unless your audience consists of experts.

2. Lead with the Benefit (The "So What?" Test)

Don't just list features; explain benefits.

  • Feature: "Our phone has a 5000mAh battery."
  • Benefit: "Leave your charger at home. 2-day battery life for non-stop use."

3. Keep it Scannable

People don't read websites; they scan them.

  • Use short paragraphs (2-3 sentences max).
  • Use bullet points and numbered lists.
  • Use descriptive subheadings to break up text.
  • Bold key phrases to draw the eye.

4. Optimize for SEO (Naturally)

Identify keywords your customers are searching for (e.g., "Web Development Palu") and include them naturally in your headings and body text. Don't "keyword stuff"—write for humans first, search engines second.

5. Include Strong Call-to-Actions (CTAs)

Every page should have a goal. Do you want them to call you? Fill out a form? Buy a product? Tell them exactly what to do. "Contact us today for a free consultation" is better than a vague "Contact".

6. Be Authentic

Your voice sets you apart. Be professional but personable. Show the humans behind the business.
